Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski called on Jan. 3 for the provision of long-range missiles to Ukraine and tighter sanctions against Russia in response to a recent mass strike against Ukrainian cities.

If the Kremlin isn’t stopped in Ukraine they’ll move on to Poland, Romania, or the Baltics. If they’re not stopped, the CCP will be more likely to attack Taiwan, which will have much more shocking global effects.

Even heartless people who don’t care about Ukrainians being butchered should want to stop Putin.

Yep. Combined with a Trump election win, who would undermine NATO and the nuclear deterrent, Putin is far more likely to take unnecessary risks or increased provocations. He’s already going on about ‘consequences’ for Finland. As you say, it would also embolden China, but also North Korea. Russia’s almost certain to give them even more tech and weapons if he wins in Ukraine, after they’ve helped him with shells.

This whole thing also significantly increases the likelihood of nuclear proliferation. For example, South Korea is increasingly worried about the US nuclear deterrent and public support for a South Korean bomb is high. Even Japan is considering it.

It’s such a no brainer to give Ukraine more military aid. It’s not even a moral thing. It’s quite clearly in our self-interest.

Of course, Putin is right about one thing. Here in the west we’ve become decadent. So decadent that we no longer seem to realise how weak we’ve become and how vulnerable we are. So much so, that plenty of people seem oblivious to the fact that there’s a war in Europe and that the rest of Europe and the US is heavily involved in it. All that’s required for the whole thing to explode is a stupid mistake or miscalculation.

Yeah, people are complacent and let their guard down. Not just re Ukraine and the threat from the CCP, but also global environment damage and climate change.

It’s not the 1990s any more, and we’re headed in the wrong direction. We need heavy focus on international collaboration and mutual defense of democracies.
