It’d been a minute since I bought a new pen, and I’ve always wanted to try a vacuum fill pen so I finally pulled the trigger. The pen writes so well straight out of the box but that’s always been my experience with TWSBI pens. The kon-peki ink is a nice beautiful blue that also seems to dry fairly quickly which is nice because I’m a lefty and it’s impossible for me to write without making a mess lol.

Kon-Peki is such a pretty blue. When I saw you wrote its name in Kanji, I asked myself excitedly if this person knows how to write. Then I saw the rest of your page :)

Are you self studying or taking a class?

Yeah I’ve always wanted to try the Iroshizuku inks because the bottle is so pretty and they look nice but buying whole jars of ink is intimidating for me lol. Glad I finally bit the bullet because it’s prob already my fav blue.

And I’m just self studying atm. I’m going to Japan later this year and I wanted to (hopefully) be able to speak some Japanese outside of just ありがとうございます and like すみません lol. I don’t expect to be fluent or anything, but if nothing else maybe be able to decipher some signs based off the katakana or familiar kanji.

I had an 18 hour layover in Taiwan years ago, which encouraged me to learn Mandarin. Same boat as you, not enough to be anywhere close to fluent, but at least not a complete stranger to the language and culture. I find it fun to write.

Congrats! I’ve just finished journal writing with my 700VAC R and Iroshizuki ink! It’s my favorite travel pen, both because of the large ink capacity and significantly decreased chance of leakage during flights.

During my last flight, I didn’t even keep the nib upright, and still didn’t have problems. I had multiple vacuum fill pens with me, including the VAC Mini and Pilot Custom 823, and none of them leaked.

I like Iroshizuku ink a lot. I have a bottle of Shinkai (“Deep Sea”) that’s a nice blue-gray (more gray than blue, though).

It’s a fine nib! It’s not reaaallly as fine as I’d prefer (I’m weird and kinda like scratchy pens lol) but it’s still good!
