All the breakdowns of the Tau army ive seen say that the faction ability “For the Greater Good” doesnt work with its xenos auxiliaries (kroot and vespid). Ive looked at the data card, index and core, but i just cant find where it states that. I do see the inability for them to utilize the current strategems, but i must be blind to the Faction ability note. Blind or just missing a resource i guess. Could anyone point me in the right direction?
Check under the unit’s Abilities - Faction Abilities and ‘For the Greater Good’ will show up there under I think all the actual T’au units.
I see what your talking about. My question then becomes one of wording. The ability specifies “if your army faction is Tau Empire, then in your Shooting phase…” and all auxiliary units share the “Tau Empire” keyword with the rest of the army. It just seems odd to me that the Idea of the Greater Good to unify peoples would exclude… those unified people
That’s standard wording on faction abilities to stop cross faction shenanigans. If you look at, say, LoV’s Eye of the Ancestor ability it starts out “if your army faction is League of Votann then do blah blah.” AdMech runs into some of the same thing where not everything applies to everyone and hopefully full codexes clean it up for T’au, or at least add a detachment that is the super best friends one and xenos aux folks can Greater Good.

You’re welcome! T’au haven’t really done much with their alien buddies in a while and I’m hoping their 10th edition codex adds some new Kroot, and fingers crossed a whole new race, and mixes them all in a bit more!
