This is because of capitalism and fast pace of life. Some use transportation time to do a lot of things they can’t do otherwise like sleeping, cutting nails or applying make up. Some also to work or study.

Edit: she is cutting her nails isn’t she?

It’s true. I’ve seen a lot of these things on public transit and every single time, one look at the person tells you they are not okay, not by a longshot. It’s mildly infuriating that we leave people homeless and in such a condition in the first place. The fact that they shit on the bus is really just a symptom of that underlying wrong.

Yeah… You don’t see this behaviour in countries that treat their people well. I never had issues with public transport in Australia. Australia has significantly better support programs for homeless people and people with low/no income (including unemployment payments and rent assistance). Public transit in Australia also has far more ridership compared to the USA.

In the US especially we also have to ask specifically, how well has America treated black people? The worst offenders I have seen on the morning bus have been black, but IMO they’re only treating the bus about as badly as they have been treated themselves. Which of those is the real outrage? The bus? No.

Yes, black intercity culture is completely innocent and has never harmed themselves. Go to E St Lou. St Lou even. Get over yourself and actually live the shit you wanna preach about from your textbook first

I’m from Oakland, fool, so you can kiss my ass. And you mean “inner city” which is a conservative dog whistle like “ghetto.” At least spell your racist jargon correctly if you’re going to open your mouth in public.

Who the hell said black people never harm each other, anyway? Not me. It doesn’t change the reality of systemic racism. In fact when you put people in harsh circumstances they tend to hurt each other more.

Yeah, assuming her feet don’t smell I’d have no issue with her cutting her nails on the train-- if she was catching them with a plastic tray, baggie or even a napkin so they don’t fall on the seat someone else is about to sit down on. But she’s not doing that, which is gross and disrespectful to your fellow passengers, IMO.

This is no different than shaving my body hair on the train. I’m forced to leave my trimmings on the train too because my boss wants me in the office 8:00 on the dot!
