The public should be able to take part in a review of the controversial 20mph speed limit policy, a Welsh Labour leadership candidate has said.

Vaughan Gething said the public needed to have the chance to comment on the exercise.

Both Mr Gething and his rival Jeremy Miles have committed to a review of how the policy has been implemented - neither would scrap it.

My interpretation was that he is not going to scrap it right away, but decide after the review. What is the point of immediately scrapping a policy that has been years in the making and cost millions to implement?

This, but also a review could lead to changes of the law in certain areas, rather than a straight-up scrap of it entirely.

Keeping the general policy of having 20mph zones is not the same as keeping the current 20mph zones. A review will tell them where it is and isn’t working and what needs to be changed to better implement the zones.
