Google chased off or directly let go most of its actual good talent that originally shaped the search engine into common household usage, and shifted their focus from providing good search results to catering to its advertisers.
The SEO war is kind of bullshit as google has all the access and knowledge to real-time identify SEO wrangling more than any other organization in human history, with the money to fund any number of research and dev groups to fix it.
But they don’t care.
Because people will still use it even if it is shitty, because of momentum and default device settings.
So google doesn’t care, they don’t need to fix it as they are in no risk (at the moment) of losing their top ranking.
