The infotainment system in my truck uses metadata tags to organize all of the music. I’ve the past few years I have thought I was doing something wrong with the new music I was adding, but apparently the Music app’s edits of the data were not “sticking “.

I found a large number of music I had added but was not available to play in the Unknown folder.

Are there any free, or cheap Mac apps for editing the data?

This has a really screwy interface. After playing with it a bit I am unable to see where I can manually change/add tags (I add the release year to all I of my album tags), only download them. It added a lot of interesting tags, such as each instrument and who is playing it.

Something I will play with a bit more.

Not sure if this is still relevant, or if the mac version differs, but try right click on the tag area.

I will check that. I did find an app that tags the way I want, but had issues with accents in track titles.

For those of you looking for command line options, ffmpeg can do it.

Thanks, I had looked at that one, I am going to give the trial a shot today to see if its tag editing actually changes the tags for my infotainment unit.

That appears to have a lot of features… and a lot of different apps, but from what I saw it does not do and tagging.
