Talking Pictures, run by 74-year-old Noel Cronin and his daughter Sarah, airs nothing but classic old TV shows and movies. The content is vintage, and so is the way the channel is put together: Neil builds the broadcast schedule for each day the old fashioned way — by hand, with each movie’s details noted on a paper card.

But if you think looking backwards is bad for business, think again. Talking Pictures has become a huge cult success, reaching millions of viewers across the U.K. The family-run channel launched on linear TV in the U.K. in 2015 and has grown to be one of the biggest independent channels in Britain. About four million people tune in every month, according to the British Broadcasters’ Audience Research Board.

Lol, the political messaging going over your head (or worse, you assuming that the movies uphold outdated oppressive values you see as benign or “the default”, and anything that doesn’t align with them as “political”) doesn’t mean it isn’t there, these old films are absolutely full of them… What do you think they used for propaganda before instant media?? 🤦‍♀️

Edit to add: while it generally ends up tied in a nice liberal bow, some of the leftist messages in some of these movies would send you in to a fit of rage lol

Wow. I was today years old when I learnt about the “echo”. The anti-Semitic world is weird. Incidentally trying to find out what the three parentheses meant with a search engine was impossible, I ended up having a very nice chat with my friend GPT.
