I would have though most of the state was also poor as dirt. It’s just age old tactic of keeping the poor blaming each other, so they never think to look up and see the source of the problem.
Lexington & Louisville are the only two cities in the state of any size (and small ones at that), and both are thriving wonderful small southern towns with lots to do, arts, culture, absolutely gorgeous land, hiking trails, etc etc etc… Both have a LOT of money in the cities too. Lexington also has a booming gay scene and has had for decades. We elected an openly gay mayor a LONG time ago, which for the south is a pretty big thing.
