    All of John Brunner’s “Club of Rome Quartet” novels pack a punch.

    Stand on Zanzibar (apocalypse by over population)
    The Jagged Orbit (apocalypse by polarization and guns)

      I recently re-read all four of those again after many years and was very pleased at how much I enjoyed them again.
      A very good non-apocalypse book by Brunner is
      The Compleat Traveller in Black.
