I’m honestly a little torn on this because I generally love The Onion and hate Mitch McConnell, but poking fun at what very likely could be a medical issue seems kind of low.
I would argue that, in this case, we can specifically point and laugh at his brain rot on account of his direct attacks on public health during the AIDs crisis, COVID, and refusal to support universal healthcare.
That’s right, btw, the AIDs crisis. The senile turtle took office under Reagan, just in time to help soft genocide gay folks through deliberate governmental neglect.
I hope he’s braindead and they’re puppeting him with a stick like Feinstein.
Knowing that if I have a similar medical issue in the future, McConnell will have directly contributed to my inability to afford treatment for it, making fun of it is no big deal in comparison.
I can understand that. We tend to dehumanize our political villains. I did a double take when I saw it the first time and this would scare me if it happened to my parents.
The empathy was short lived, though. The man has caused suffering and used his position to damage the lives of people I love. He will rot in hell, but I’m getting a little kick out of him rotting while he’s still alive and I wish him a painful and humiliating end to his life if it is at all possible.
If this was about somebody misgendering a trans person because they committed a crime, I’d agree with you. But Mitch is hated because of the immeasurable harm he’s done to countless Americans (and non-Americans), and I don’t think it’s reasonable to expect that people give him grace.

I personally take great delight in the misfortunes of deplorable people.
It’s pretty low brow humor when I’ve come to expect better from The Onion 🤷
Oh no, a terrible person is being made fun of. Lemme clutch my pearls real quick.
My hot take is you don’t hear people going "Oh you shouldn’t make fun of Kim Jong Un, or Putin. But we should take the high road for Mitch? Nah.

This is a valid opinion and I don’t understand the downvotes.

All he has to do is pass universal healthcare and then I’ll only make fun of him for all of his other hypocrisies.
His main medical issue is that he’s 81. If he were retired, it wouldn’t be worthy of an Onion joke.
