A great premise but a “meh” movie we watched waaaay back in the day on VHS.
I’ve never got hold of it, but I love Bruce in “Nebraska” much older now.
Fun movie, interesting use of environmental themes for early scifi films. Trumbull, the director, was already a famous SFX person who’d done incredible work on 2001. Silent Running was his debut as director and made use of great FX that hadn’t made it into Kubrick’s film.
The use of robot drones as characters reminded me oddly of Prey, the 2017 video game. Perhaps a sly inspiration? I wouldn’t be surprised if the geodomes on the ship were also an inspiration for the biolabs in System Shock.
PREY! Now you mention it it’s a familiar setup. I loved that game, gameplay, story, mechanics. System Shock 2 also incredible for it’s time.
