    Wait, you guys cant pump your own gas? And this is seen as a good thing? Can someone explain? I’m not from Oregon

      I’m from s country that has never had self serving gas stations and I genuinely cannot understand why Americans are so obsessed with pumping their own gas

        Most people in the US generally disagree with the rationale behind disallowing self-service gas stations, which is that the customers are incapable of dispensing gasoline without setting themselves on fire.

        If someone honestly wants to pay for someone to pump their gasoline, they can still do so. It’s not illegal to have full service pumps at Oregon gas stations now. It’s just legal to have self service, like the rest of the US.

        There’s a labor shortage.

        If you pay a person to operate a gas pump the cost of gasoline is more.

        If you can let people pump their own gas that’s fewer workers at the gas station, which translates to lower prices.
