2017 MZ8 is a near-Earth object (NEO) that belongs to the Apollo group of asteroids. It was first observed on 16 June 2017. The asteroid has an estimated diameter of about 120 meters and orbits the Sun every 1.38 years (504 days). Its orbit is highly elliptical, bringing it as close as 0.98 AU to the Sun and as far as 1.78 AU. The asteroid’s orbit also brings it close to Earth, making it a potentially hazardous asteroid (PHA). However, current data suggests that it does not pose a significant threat to Earth in the foreseeable future.
