Very nice and light, plenty durable. Not baggy, but they’ve got a little stretch for moving around. Probably a bit more snug in the back than you’re looking for, but otherwise they seemed pretty nice to me. I would have bought a pair if they were a little heavier, because I need a pair of outdoors pants (but I’m in a cooler climate).
So just men’s linen trousers then?
I’ve never actually seen linen trousers. I went out to try buy some once and got convinced they are unbuyable except online.
But they don’t really look like they will hold up to hiking up a hill through some brush like elephant pants but I’ll give them a go.
If you’re hiking through brush then definitely not linen. For that, I’d just go with some lightweight synthetic fabric, like hiking pants.
I don’t know where you are, but I was at REI the other day and saw these guys on the sale rack: https://www.rei.com/product/216255/rei-co-op-trailmade-pants-mens?color=BIRCH BROWN
