There was no narrative reason Tali has to be straight, and I heard a rumour it’s because the voice actor wasn’t comfortable recording lines to romance a woman. That’s nonsense. Flirting doesn’t have to have any mention of gender in it, and it’s not like voice actors have to do their scenes in the same room or anything. If the voice actor gendered her performance, that’s on her. There was no character or story reason to do that.
