I am currently going through this moment, even funnily inspired by this meme. I’m seeing a lot of hype about Tekken 8, and I want to play it but I can’t afford it right now. So I’m emulating T5DR and learning the basics for when I can get the game. Learning Heihachi (for Reina) and Lee.
I usually prefer Soul Calibur and Dead or Alive, but bith those series are dead, so if I want to play a 3d fighter I have to get my hands dirty.
Old schooler since Tekken 1. It was always king of arcade fighters in my mind. Love the way each button corresponds to a limb. Combos always felt much more intuitive because of this.
Definitely still big on like, Street fighter, mortal combat, and other fighting games in general, but the sheer absurdity of Tekken lore helped put it over the top for me. Who else let’s you play as a pet bear, or insect moon ninja thing?!
Not even that good at it, but we do have fun! Perpetually stuck between too good to play with irl friends, not good enough for online or try-hards.
