The important thing is that we cater to their bigotry because they might get violent. We should always do what violent people want at all times because they might get violent. We should never speak up or do anything that opposes them, because society must cater to terrorists.

Sure, stand up against bigotry, but know the risks and use caution. If you think that vandalizing a sticker, though humorous, is worth the risk, then by all means do so.

I’m not sure why you wanna give shit to the person who points out the risk though. Maybe you should direct more of that anger towards the terrorists and not the person saying to be careful of taunting terrorists for minimal gains?

Ultimately it is the individual’s decision what they want to stand up to. It’s not “catering to bigotry” to choose to avoid a single battle. That’s akin to putting the onus on marginalized groups to educate hegemonic groups when they demonstrate ignorance. It’s a powerful thing when it happens, but it is completely within one’s right to just keep to themselves and go home peacefully for the night.

So maybe it’s time to stop with mere taunting and do exactly what they accuse us of doing. I do not condone violence or illegal behavior.

I give shit to the person who is always concerned that the far right fascists might retaliate because that avoids discouraging their bully behavior.

“I am going to do a minor thing to express displeasure at their implied threats of violence.”

“No, don’t let them know their behavior is bad because they might get violent!”

Every single time. It gets old.

Poster: “Please don’t go and get shot over vandalizing a car sticker” You: “Vandalizing car stickers is how we overthrow terrorists”

Fuck you make being on the left so god damn cringe.

“Terror campaign”? It’s the US gun culture. While it’s terrible and horrifying, it’s not really so much of a campaign as it is a… culture. And it’s not really a target group of people in this case because, while these folks are more likely to commit violence against marginalized groups, in this case it’s just gonna be “Who is fucking with my car? Pop pop”. Just because they are the type of person to commit hate crimes doesn’t mean that everything they do is a hate crime. Does that make sense?

I’m just not sure how to get this through to you. US gun culture is a disease that goes way beyond “terror campaign” - you minimize it by putting it like that. This is a wide systemic and cultural issue that isn’t going to be fixed by just refusing to … to not vandalize random stickers??? The rainbow edit is hilarious but don’t fucking act like you’re standing up against ISIS by doing it or bowing to them by not.

Yes. And that culture involves going and shooting a bunch of marginalised people regularly. Whether it’s in a shopping mall or in a gay nightclub.

These are acts of terror performed as part of a disorganised and decentralised campaign waged by the far right.

you minimize it by putting it like that

No I do not. I disagree with none of what you have said. Just because I didn’t right a short essay about it does not mean I minimise it. Have a conversation with someone and actually listen to what they believe before you soapbox by talking at them instead of with them.

It’s a fucking sticker. For the love of god pick your battles. Get nazi symbols taken down by appealing to local government, elect a local oversight committee to decide where police funding goes, stop just pushing for blind anarchy like it’s a solution. I mean hell, Virginia no longer has southern general statues not because of the graphitti a bunch of morons put on it but because the people in charge took cranes and removed them.

I’m begging you to do adult things not just blind anarchy.
