How can you recognize that

  1. Trans people revolutionize thought about gender and sexuality

And then not recognize that

  1. Trans women revolutionize politics

I love like

“Yeah trans people are fine but sometimes their politics are crraaaaazyyyyy

Same cognitive dissonance that prevents libs from understanding why communists either supported or were a part of every progressive movement of the last 150 years. It’s not an accident that communists were a century ahead of the left-liberals on race, gender, religion, antisemitism, and imperialism, in addition to their bread-and-butter of labor movements.

The Soviets in particular advanced the rights of women both in ideals (see the USSR constitution) and in practice (women in STEM increased significantly). The empowerment of women in the Soviet Union was so self evident that it spawned the movie trope of the headstrong, independent Russian woman who can’t be wooed by James Bond or some other “gentleman”.

It was the Bolsheviks who saw the reactionary character of antisemitism, which during the Russian Empire was especially horrible.

”It is not the Jews who are the enemies of the working people. The enemies of the workers are the capitalists of all countries. Among the Jews there are working people, and they form the majority. They are our brothers who, like us, are oppressed by capital; they are our comrades in the struggle for socialism. Among the Jews there are kulaks, exploiters and capitalists, just as there among the Russians and among people of all nations. The capitalists strive to sow and foment hatred between workers of different faiths, different nations and different races. Those who do not work are kept in power by the power and strength of capital.” — V. I. Lenin

The communists historically have been a driving force for positive social progress. Liberals co-opt these gains as products of their own enlightenment, either consciously to deny the communists a win, or unconsciously because they don’t have a theoretical basis for understanding historical development.

As an outsider those two don’t seem very related to me. Is it because trans people a politicized? And why is it only the trans women that revolutionize politics? And what is the ‘politics’ of trans people anyway? Exiting? Or is this another way of saying ‘everything is politics’?

Its because trans people demand efficient healthcare and that is inherently revolutionary in a western system that seems hell bent on gouging as many people as possible for healthcare; this tends to produce more radical political positions, as well as how trans people get marganlized and tend to become allied with the far-left due to how we’re not fucking psychos.

Is bad Healthcare a tenet of capitalism? Seems more like a consequence to me, and regardless if liberals needed a reason to think about it they still had countless before they cared about trans people. I guess trans people allying left counts as trans politics but then how is that any more ‘revolutionary’ than other minorities and non minorities on the left? Feels op must’ve meant something else

Is bad Healthcare a tenet of capitalism?

its less about the quality and more about the accesability of it; trans people find themselves needing to wait 3-4x longer for standard appointments than other people because they are de-prioritized for treatment and there legal recongition is often gatekeeped behind hospital doors.

Also the UK, which is my perspective only has a single hospital setup to treat trans people, with a waiting list of 8 years; trans people often have to goto the black market to get medicine they need.

All this togther with a media enviroment that demonizes them and then you find communists preaching actual answers to all of this; socialized health care like cuba, taking control of the media to stop them from creating moral panics against LGBT+ people and a focus on improving there material conditions.

Think about how the far right approach this, its less nuanced and more fear based. We have sciencetific thought on our side, we will win.
