Trying to find a book - remember the story vaguely, read it maybe 20-30 years ago. People are living/working on assigned weekdays and sleep in others, a couple are interested to move to the same day and somebody arranges it to fail in some way.
Looks like you already found it, but you might like this old episode of the rebooted Twilight Zone TV show where people lived in compartments that existed only one minute at a time. As each minute expires, they unknowingly move to a different compartment artfully crafted just for that minute.
Ever lose your phone, look around for it like crazy then find it back in the first place you looked? That’s because the people building the compartments misplaced it in one minute, then found it and put it back. ;)
Possibly “eastern standard tribe” by cory doctorow? Not 100% match as i remmber it but close. Good book even if its not the one your after.
looks interesting, but not this one.
Could it be Dayworld by Philip José Farmer?
thank you, actually it seems that it is https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sliced-Crosswise_Only-On-Tuesday_World , which has inspired Dayworld :)
Ah, I was on the right track at least! Glad you found it though.
