The European Commission says China hasn’t been playing fair in that its government has been paying subsidies through “direct transfer of funds,” among other actions, reports Reuters – which the EC says tips the balance in China’s favor and leaves European automakers out to dry.
Back in October 2023, Europe launched its formal investigation into the Chinese EV industry, as European companies are struggling to compete with the cheap, high-tech Chinese imports, made by low-cost labor, entering the European Union.
China has all the raw material and systems set up for the current growth of solar power. They will do anything to keep that market share.
I’m hoping the perovskites panels being built this year in Europe will help spur on a huge growth in European (and American) manufacturing because the raw material is easier to come across.
But undoubtedly China will send in the spy’s to steal the technology.
China doesn’t need spies. We will just send all the tech to them ourselves in the end, all in the name of efficiency and some delusional idea about free market that doesn’t work when one market isn’t free.
