Personally I find myself checking out fiction media from all over time.

Original Title:
Supposing no technical hurdles to experiencing a piece of fiction media, does when it came out influence whether you check it out?

Original was convoluted as I wanted to try to bypass convos about the technical accessibility of the media (i.e. wouldn’t if I had to get a VCR or cassette player to watch/listen to/etc.).

Sometimes. I find that sometimes scifi can be a little disconnected when its older. Like they are talking about the impossibility of videocalls or something and it just yanks you clean out of the story and you go “Yep… written in 1976… moving on” and keep reading.

Not particularly. I read new stuff when it comes out and old stuff I’ve found out about. As long as it’s a good story I don’t really care when it came out
