See, the joke is that modern conservatives would have supported the British control of the American colonies.
Which holds significant merit as during the war for independence, the most conservative families were Monarchists which insisted we return to British rule.
Several of those Monarchist families today make significant parts of the republican leadership.
That’s the point boss. These people call themselves patriots and say what is in the word bubbles, the folks in the boat were actual patriots and wouldn’t say that. They’re literally pointing out the cognitive dissonance of what these idiots say and what they believe themselves to be.
It’s a bullshit painting based largely on myth and misunderstanding of history. The dudes on that boat were ready to kill Washington and Washington had a simple choice, lead a fight or die by his men’s hands and hope they don’t have the wish to kill him afterwards or that there wouldn’t be enough of them left to matter.
If I stub my toe and say my foot is ruined I’m being dramatic, if I say I’m a war hero when in reality my military career is mostly huge flops then I’m just a liar.
I don’t think the person choosing the image for the meme cared, and just wanted a composition of historical founding father significance and enough people for the speech bubbles.
You are letting your accurate knowledge of history get in the way of appreciating a political shitpost. Consider that.

Someone on that boat most certainly wouldn’t say “just obey the kings laws” or “redcoat lives matter”
They were literally, at that moment, on the way to fight redcoats and hessians

But the “Patriots” of today could just directly be portrayed as confederates without any dissonant subcontext. Why sully a cool painting for a meme

That’s how running a revolution goes. You’re always hanging on by a string
It doesn’t change the fact that it’s just early propaganda.
Well obviously but it’s at least a depiction of a real event that has been dramatized
Whitewashed bud, not dramatized.

Thank you for your comment. Of everything I read, this is the most sane response. It’s a shitpost to send a specific message.
The “Patriots” of today would not be on that boat at all .
therefore the meme is dumb. Why not use a painting with wealthy england aligned traders, or perhaps later, confederates
