Pine64 has been relatively successful in coalescencing a developer community around its products. I really hope this succeeds!

Is that a render of what they’re planning? That mic button doesn’t look like a switch. It looks like a momentary button. I’d want something that has two distinct positions to confirm it is physically disconnecting some wire, as opposed to a button that may control an electronic relay.

Nice. Though i was hoping it would double as a speaker.

I use snapcast extensively, and love the open source multiroom audio. This would have been brilliant!

Do you have any resources for reading or recommendations on multi room audio?

I had a room mate with the Bose system and it was pretty sick, but I’ve not found any thing open source that contends

The trouble is hardware. I use rpi 0’s to 3’s with snapclient installed, and an audio hat, either a quality DAC or an Amp. This then feeds your amp or speaker.

I run snapserver on my computer in the common area, and it has Spotify, as well as any other audio source (YouTube, mp3’s, streaming radio, etc).

I like it, I even built a portable speaker that takes a ryobi power tool 18v battery

There is a delay between the server and the sound, but all clients are synced.

It is a bit of a process, but the software is on github.

Yeah so watching movies is out then eh?

So can people on your network interact witht his? I was looking at the snapclient. Seems like maybe?

How does it work for multi-user/ client audio? Like some one is listening to music on the porch but something else in the kitchen?

Yep, no movies, though I think vlc can change the audio offset to suit.

I use Spotify to all interact with what is paying. And the app to adjust different volumes. And you can have multiple streams that you direct in the app.

There is also home assistant component which we used primarily

I too would like to know of any multi room audio setups that aren’t absurdly expensive for a speaker.

What do you mean? This is a speaker. How would it double as one?
