      Why not? The Baltics are not real countries. They are oversized NATO bases with occasional SS parades.

      There’s been a growing trend in media to question the legitimacy of some of the former soviet republics - usually Ukraine and the baltics. Haven’t heard this language used on the likes of Kazakhstan though. Of course the same media never raises the question of legitimacy of the current Russian Federation, which is also very much not USSR.

        Because Kazakhstan has little value to Russia. Ukraine and the Baltics are far richer and democracies, making them a far more valuable target for Russias imperialism.
