The world presents itself as an overwhelmingly grim place.

Animals endure unspeakable forms of abuse, and tragically, so do human beings.

In the midst of hunger, death, and immense suffering, there are instances where people engage in heated arguments about trivial matters like movies, expending energy that could be directed towards alleviating the dire situations faced by many. I mean, they’re actually arguing about a black actress playing a mermaid, for goodness’ sake!

Pain seems to permeate every corner, with its unrelenting presence.

Our planet is undergoing distressing turmoil, manifesting in escalating temperatures and rampant wildfires.

While I persistently strive to maintain a hopeful outlook and contribute positively, having made donations to various charities and working to raise awareness, I can’t help but wonder why collective empathy and action often fall short of what’s truly needed.

I find myself grappling with uncertainty and confusion.

I am fortunate to have access to therapy, and perhaps an SSRI might offer some solace. It appears that I may need to rely on medication to navigate this existence while safeguarding my mental well-being.

I get it, a lot. I’m not sure how to express everything I want to here, but I’ll try a little bit.

It really is that bad, and even every day people, that are unplugged from the Internet, unless they’re eating propaganda, they seem to be noticing.

On Reddit I would read a combination of /r/collapse and /r/memexico to at least laugh sometimes. We’re human, we’re really fragile, and we’re living in a world where realistically, without technology most parts of the world can’t sustain human life anymore. Deserts everywhere, and people in homes with air conditioners, in a bubble of our small lives we’re mostly insulated from the worst of it.

The animals and plants though? They’re in trouble, and not enough people talk about it. Many plants literally require pollinators as insects to reproduce, and many things like coffee and chocolate are incapable of being grown now without humans, we’ve disrupted things so much.

People used to make fun of what would now be called doomers when I was younger, but I think it was always lumped into the same idea as religious doomers, because it’s quite clear that humans can cause so much bad that the planet won’t be able to the what we need the most, sustain the life that allows us to eat and breathe.

I’m sad that I am living in the decline of humanity and life. The billionaires will think they can save us, and will realize that eventually even they cannot mobilize the resources, and people that think they can just live off the land…they don’t understand the land will no longer let us.

I’m sorry my friend, we are doomed.
