      From someone who tried making an app that uses NFC, it’s all over the place and inconsistent; might be good to have a bit of a reset.

      Part of project mainline. The point is to separate stuff out and take updating these modules away from the OEM so support for devices can be longer.

        I.e being more reliant upon Google Play services so you’ll have to accept their predatory EULA.

        Now if they released a new driver update system independent of Google Play, that would be better.

      Since a ton of OEMs don’t really provide monthly security updates Google breaking it up so it can be updated without updating the system would allow those phones to get important security updates for hardware related to making payments.
