    Meta’s decision to limit political content goes back to the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election, when it was revealed that personal data belonging to millions of Facebook users had been collected by British consulting firm Cambridge Analytica, and used for political advertising. So damaging was that scandal that the firm changed the name of its holding company from Facebook to Meta.

    I’mma email the writer, cuz that ain’t right (right?)

      Renaming because of the scandal is not correct… It happened 5 years later and they did it for the same reason as Google/Alphabet, they want multiple independent sub-companies and the then-current name of the parent company was also the name of the product. They now have separate sub-companies Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Meta Quest, and others.
