these originate from Straßburg and just look like they where based on Sportscars… and I love it!
Amazing, I love the cobblestone streets and simple implementation of the loading platform to make it barrier free. (Guessing there is a small ramp not shown to the side for wheelchair access). The whole street also has a “pedestrian focused” feel to it at a human scale.
I wish in North America we could get our shit together and start turning our strodes into actual community focused streets. Instead every place in north America looks like this. With giant seas of parking lots everywhere.
Great video to watch about road design. Link below.

I feel we really forgot how to design proper high-speed roads in north America and at the same time killed what was classified as a local street.
A common argument in north America is that everything is far apart, so we need cars, but we need to make everything far apart because we need parking lots for our cars. Thus everything is far apart.
I do adore more Community focused streets like these. It has a very warm and welcoming feel to it. We got quite a few of these in Berlin and around me… but I can assure you, you don’t want cobblestone roads or walkways… as either Drivers or Cyclists… its not a fun experience to use. hell even as a pedestrian I dislike walking on them. Which sucks because I love their astetics!
Great point about cobblestone on roads, I do agree its a little tricky to both walk and cycle on. Driving though i would support it on low speed & high pedestrianized areas, acting as a way to alert a driver to act more alert to their surroundings.
Though I do find it’s a good application in what’s shown in the photo under the tramways. The pedestrian paths also appear to be stone tile at the same level as the tramways, which is great IMO.
The cobblestone almost acts as a way to keep pedestrian traffic off the tramways, but does not fully discourage it like a paved road would, allowing pedestrians to cross quickly as needed.
Just came back from Strasbourg. Do the Germans pronounce it ‘Strassburg’? I always read it the French way, with a ‘z’
