We really need someone with budget to take Nintendo to court over this.
Sadly, I don’t think that will happen.
That was Yuzu, they were an actual company with actual funding, so much so that they were able to pay 2.4 million as a settlement.
They pussied out and ran for the hills after what? A day? 2 tops?
So no, probably not happening.
have they paid 2.4 million? Last time someone with supposedly that much funding got fucked over by Nintendo they have been sent to jail, and once they came out had to basically pay rent to nintendo for the rest of time.
The reason we didn’t hear anything of that, if I had to guess, is probably an NDA.
From what I heard, they didn’t pay that themselves but they filed bankrupcy or something so the government payed it for them
That’s precisely because they made a business around it that they got attacked.
we can also not pay for their stuff
At this point its not just “vote with your wallets” because they have like a 8B+ global turnover
Me not giving them 60 bucks does nothing, even the entire Fediverse not giving them 60 bucks would do nothing.
Though, them thwarting game preservation efforts on the basis of shitty DRM? Thats what I’d like to see fought.
be the change you want to ve in the world, get yuzu and some games on it.
I run Ryujinx already, more accurate anyways :)
Nintendon’t mind being total dickheads.
I Nintendon’t think I’ll ever give them money ever again!
Good luck with the torrents and Mega links.
I already have me copy!
This is why self-hosting matters. Why distributed version control is more resilient. I haven’t yet used it but this is the sort of use gave for Radicle where folks seed the repo like a torrent & there is no meaningful centralized server that you could even go after.
Imagine dedicating so much budget and workforce toward such things. Just imagine going at the office in the morning, knowing that you will have to find ways to crack down on things of that kind, which offer entertainement to so many.
Imagine working on taking joy out of people.
Put it on I2P, the this shit won’t happen.
This definitely has something to do with their next console. I bet my nipples that it‘ll be so similar to the switch that an existing Yuzu would be capable enough to emulate / hack that new console within a day or a week.
So they’re taking it all down while it’s unreleased to make sure they cash out on all the consoles from the get-go.
