Who came up with this, and when? I got the impression that this is a relatively new invention, even though it seems so simple that it makes you wonder how this could even be something new. You still meet people who have not heard about it, even though they have a modern sleeping pad that could be shnozzled.

Love the shnozzle.

Really comes in handy, especially if I have to inflate a two person pad. And it’s dual purpose as a dry bag/stuff sack means it’s useful the whole hike.

What exactly is it? A bag that can be used to inflate a mattress instead of using your breath?

I’ve never heard it called by that name before. But I’ve had a sleeping pad with that type of pump bag for a few years and it’s great. 10 pumps and it’s full.

It’s what the brand ‘exped’ calls their pump sacks. I like the name (and i have an exped mat - and theit bags are big, 3 pumps and full, haha).

I kind of like the name too!

The mat I have that came with a pump bag is the Klymit Double V. Pretty good, not bad.

They’re also great because they don’t introduce moisture to the pad like you breath does, which minimized the possibility of mould or mildew, which is especially important if you have a down filled pad.
