I have an an called BBC Sounds on my phone, which lets me stream BBC radio stations. I also use it in the car sometimes.

But Carplay has decided for some reason that this is my default music app, not Apple Music.

So if I say “Hey Siri, play some music”. It will reply “Now playing music on BBC Sounds” - and immediately fail.

So I have to keep saying “Hey Siri, play music on Apple Music” - which gets a bit old. Any ideas?

Siri has never ever heard me request it play anything in the car on BBC Sounds, but it chooses it 70% of the time if I don’t specify “On Apple Music”

I’ve had this problem for ages. I’ll say “Hey Siri, play <album>”, and it’ll reply “Sorry, you’ll need to continue in BBC Sounds”. 😑

Glad it’s not just me. Wonder if it is a specific problem with BBC Sounds being a bit grabby. If I ever find a solution I’ll @ you :)

Today I said “hey Siri set default music app to Apple Music” and … it didn’t complain. The next time I tried playing music it used Apple Music.

No idea if it will stick- or if it actually did anything. But maybe worth a try?

If you are suggesting that icon-order might influence defaults - it’s a good thought, but BBC Sounds is way down the list of apps, compared with Apple Music. Hmmm
