There are credible reports that Meta will release a cheaper version of Quest 3 in 2024 to replace the Quest 2, which could be called Quest 3 Lite or Quest 3S.
Meta has not announced anything yet and is selling Quest 2 at the lowest price ever, apparently to clear out stock.
Over the weekend, VR enthusiast Luna asked Quest developers via X to submit information about the Meta Quest 3 Lite developer kit, apparently with success.

Seems like meta is reacting to the lukewarm sales of the Quest 3 with the sticker shock that everyone had.
I had the impression that they had plans for this from the beginning, but who knows.
I find it slightly funny when the Q3 is described as expensive. It certainly depends on your situation, but it’s almost laughably cheap next to the Vision Pro and even most smartphones. Basically the same as a PS5. But when you’re trying to grow a market it helps to have things as cheap as possible ofc.
