Bill Walton, who won two NCAA titles with UCLA and two NBA championships during a Hall of Fame career, died Monday at age 71 after a prolonged battle with cancer.

Sad news for not just the Blazer community, but for the whole NBA.

Bill brought us the Blazer’s only title. He will be missed.

    I was 13 years old in 1977 when the Bill Walton led Trailblazers defeated the 76ers in the NBA Championship. I was watching with friends and when we won, we dashed outside and stopped traffic on SE 92nd Ave as we, and the rest of the city celebrated.

    This is a tragic day.
