The Lather Games theme (from the other website) is:

Information Overload

"Product marketing must list at least 10 scent notes.
Note: remember that notes are scent descriptors used for marketing - not actual ingredient lists.
Caveat: fragrance dupes will count the number of notes listed in the dupe's marketing description - not the original product's description."

    Information Overload

    • Brush: Zenith 506B MB (27 mm × 51 mm Manchurian badger)
    • Razor: Schick Repeating Razor Type C
    • Blade: Schick Injector Blade
    • Lather: Highland Springs Soap Co. – Eclipse
    • Post Shave: Highland Springs Soap Co. – Eclipse
    • Fragrance: Chatillon Lux – Gratiot League Square

My fellow djudge u/RedMosquitoMM’s and my mind have synchronised. My shave happened 12 hours ago, or 7 hours before skeeter’s, I just haven’t had the chance to post yet.

Eclipse is warm and rich and comforting, and more importantly for today’s theme, it has 21 scent notes.

Relevant post and frag: Gratiot League Square is Eclipse’s lost sibling sharing the tobacco-leather-sandalwood core.

Challenge: I got distracted. Started with my left, forgot about it by pass number two. Sigh.

    • Brush: Semogue 610
    • Razor: Wolfman Guerilla (Gen 1)
    • Blade: Bolzano Superinox (German) (15)
    • Lather: Barrister & Mann - Lyssa - Soap
    • Post Shave: Barrister & Mann - Lyssa - Aftershave
    • Fragrance: Jōvan Musk - EdT

This brush misses the #SMOLL scavenger hunt by 1mm. Oh well. It’s a small brush, but never has any trouble providing enough lather for 3+ passes.

Lyssa is an interesting floral scent. It’s floral without being flowery. I found this teaser video while researching scent notes (caution, it’s a facebook link).

According to this website, the scent notes are: rose, geranium, ashes, nutmeg, saffron, sage, oud, labdanum, oakmoss, patchouli, tobacco, smooth musk and Violets. The Wetshaving Database lists them slightly differently, as Saffron, Tobacco, Oud, Violet, Sage, Patchouli, Nutmeg, Ash, Oakmoss, Labdanum, Rose, Geranium.

Eiher way, that’s more than 10.

Relevant post shave and fragrance - Each item used today is used to either repel or attract. Lyssa is a zombie repellent, and musk is used by a lot of animals to attract mates. For me, however it seems to repel my spouse.

Quite the confidence on Will’s part to market a scent as a zombie repellant. I love that kind of risk-taking. As the years go on, repelling one’s spouse gets easier and easier :)

    • Brush: WSP Stubby 26mm Extra Dense HMW #SMOLL

    • Razor: Puma 89 #2 11/16 Full Hollow

    • Lather: PannaCrema - Nuàvia Nero - Soap

    • Post Shave: PannaCrema - Nuàvia Nera - Balm

    • Post Shave: Thayers - Lavender - Toner

    • Fragrance: Zaharoff - Evening Mystique - Eau de Parfum

    • Talc: Yardley Classic

The PannaCrema fragrances that I have tried have been amazingly fresh and clean, but complex. Here’s what I mean. These are the fragrance notes of Nuàvia Nero:

The fragrance opens with top notes of mandarin orange, bergamot, black pepper, lavender, and cardamom.

Body notes are cinnamon, mugwort, sandalwood, jasmine, and patchouli.

Base notes are amber, tonka bean, vanilla, and white moss.

The fragrance blend is subtle and very refreshing. I have trouble picking out individual notes, but I like the overall scent very much.

More cat tricks with this razor today. This was another test shave, so no leftorium beyond the usual. (I normally use both hands to shave and have for many years.)

To qualify, the loft has to be 48mm or smaller. I measured the loft at exactly 48mm. However, the tag is more for my own record-keeping than anything else. I don’t actually care about points. For me, LG challenges provide an interesting way to visit my collection of shaving hardware and software. If I had done this correctly, I would have taken a photo of the knot with my ruler next to it showing the distance above the handle. I want to participate in the LG to be part of the community but, mostly, it’s all about the daily SOTD comments for me.
