I used to just put my stuff into the little pockets in my bag, but have since switched to sort of a pouch which was designed for a phone, but fits everything I need. But where do you put your stuff if you don’t have a bag to put the pouch in? I envy woman for being able to walk around with a bag the size of a phone without looking stupid. Do you always carry a backpack? Or do you put your stuff somewhere else?

Bruh stop caring what people think and carry a bag if you want.

I’ll never understand why guys bitch about not being able to do something because it’s not perceived as “manly”.

If you’re secure in your own masculinity then you wouldn’t give two shits what other people thought about carrying a bag, what you drive, what kind of dog you have, or any of that stuff.

Don’t worry about projecting the appearance of a confident man. And just be confident in yourself bro.

I backpack it. Mines not exactly huge, but it’s enough, and easy to lug around. If you hunt around, you can find some fun ones. I picked up mine from a metaphysical shop.

They can also be a fun way to express yourself a little, hang things from the zippers(I have a Sword-mode Kirby on one of mine), pins.

I use a crossbody/fanny pack or whatever they’re called when I’m wearing athletic gear w minimal pockets. Fits my phone, keys, wallet & other small items.

I have different sized backpacks depending on what I need to carry that day.

I wear cargo pants which have lots of space for smaller stuff, since I generally prefer a loose fit. For my weekly groceries I have a big ~40L messenger backpack from Ortlieb, since they only have one big compartment, with a regular cotton bag inside if I need it.

    Every option is a compromise.

If you’re slender and wear pants that are fitted (not baggy) it’s challenging. Bigger guys with loose fit pants can get a surprising amount in the naturally larger pockets.

A courier bag AKA messenger bag is the man’s version of a purse, and is certainly an acceptable option. It is annoying to carry all day and keep up with. But you won’t have the weird-looking pocket bulges. They come in myriad sizes and designs.

There’s the “utility belt” thing where you clip a phone holster to your belt. They also make pouches for this. I think one or the other is “OK” but definitely wouldn’t do both. You’ll end up looking like Batman or a police officer. Things clipped to my belt are annoying to me, but some guys do it every day and it works fine for them.

Some guys wear vests with lots of pockets. A select few can actually pull this off, but, it’s going to look dorky 95% of the time, IMHO.

Windbreaker or light jacket with pockets is another good option. But in the summer, not always ideal.

I settled into just having a messenger bag, but I experimented with “runner belts,” which are basically the offspring of fanny packs and yoga pants. They’re inconvenient normally, but AMAZING for amusement parks.

Everything I wear is based around practicality which involves a lot carrying capacity. As someone who’s a lot on the move, this is my usual kit:

    Jeans, right pocket: Snus
Jeans, left pocket: Bluetooth earbud charging box thingy
Jeans, right back pocket: Boarding pass / ticket
Jeans, left back pocket: reserved for trash
Jacket, left front pocket: card holder, in which I also keep receipts
    Jacket, left inner pocket: Phone
Jacket, front right pocket: varies. Usually a pack of chewing gum and a pen
Jacket, right inner pocket: Wallet with passport and misc other important stuff
Backpack: Two laptops, a change of clothing, USB battery bank, a bunch of adapters so I can plug in almost anywhere, phone stand, misc access cards, a plastic fork, and a toothbrush. Plenty of room to spare for things I add last minute or pick up along the way.

When I’m only moving locally, it’s the same except I don’t bring my backpack. And when I’m not flying, I have a small multitool/knife in my right inner jacket pocket instead of my wallet.

Oh, and up until a few hours ago I used to have my sunglasses hanging from a ring that is hanging Frodo-style around my neck. But I realized while I was boarding my plane on my way home that I’d left them in the airport lounge. No time to fetch them, but they weren’t particularly expensive.

My original strap broke, the magnet clasp on the body-facing side rubbed through the fabric, and there are wear-and-tear holes on the bottom of the outermost pouch. And then there’s the beer and coffee stains.

I backpack it everywhere. I love boundary supply, but they’re expensive and lord almighty are they slow to ship…

That being said, I EDC a Prima system as it also hadles my laptops and camera gear which travels with me frequently. I’ve just added one of their bottle carriers to the shoulder strap and I’ve got another one to install…

In addition to the backpack, I’ve moved to pants with plenty of pockets. I live in 5.11 cargos (pants or shorts) and even wear the 5.11 tactical jeans which have an extra pair of pockets (usually for ammo. I use them for wallet and phone…)

Most of it in my front left pocket. Other things like phone and earphones in my front right pocket. Everything else (laptop, eReader, cables, power banks, chargers, cameras, batteries and a lot more) in my backpack.

there are various types and sizes of bags. there are small two/one shoulder backpacks. there are messenger bags. there are cargo pants.

I envy woman for being able to walk around with a bag the size of a phone without looking stupid.
