Frankly downvotes should be disabled by default, it’s just not a good system and there’s a lot of problems with it, and the instances that do have downvotes disabled haven’t turned into the Nazi-infested wastelands where good arguments get drowned out by mindless garbage like many ardent downvote supporters seem to believe will happen.
