Sims 3 is better than sims 4 but sims 4 runs better on shittier hardware. Sims 4 doesn’t have an open world to the degree sims 3 does so it doesn’t have to process every sim walking around in the entire world and their unoptimized pathfinding at all times.
Perhaps now in the age of higher single core cpu clock speeds, maybe it’s not as bad.
Sims 3 seems more limited by it’s own engine than the hardware. Like I can’t get it into a playable state with a Ryzen 5800X3D and a 7800XT while using all the recommended performance tweaks and mods. It still has massive stutters and freezes while according to the FPS counter running at a stable 144 FPS, it like stops for a solid 5 seconds with no FPS drop. I love the systems in Sims 3 but at least Sims 4 is playable.
