Two construction projects take over Regina’s downtown area that have many residents frustrated the detours and the inability to get to their favourite shopping stores.

“We have also been working with the Regina Downtown Business Improvement District to remind people that downtown businesses are open during construction through a robust advertising and social media campaign.”

The problem is that people will just avoid downtown because the traffic is awful. There doesn’t seem to have been much consideration for how traffic will work. e.g., Broad Street was (is?) down to a single lane with no turning lane heading north and there’s still an advance green arrow - but nobody’s able to turn because the first car is going straight… and then the second car wants to turn left into downtown and blocks everyone behind them.

At one point this spring/summer there was construction on every major north/south road. Winnipeg, Broad, Albert and Lewvan. There was no way to go from North Regina to South without going through a major construction zone.
