Decided to join Lemmy after the Reddit stupid decisions recently (as is the same with most people around I suppose) one thing I like to always do when testing a site or a service is seeing how well it works with Tor, and so far it seems to work good!

Although a question I have is, is there any Lemmy instances as of right now that have a .onion mirror? Would this even be a good idea?

If an instance has an onion address, the text will come through Tor; however, pictures from other instances will still go through exit nodes since only the instance that hosts a community serves the media. My understanding is that Kbin federates everything but I haven’t used it and am unsure how it interacts with a Lemmy for media.

federation happens over the clearnet, so the only place tor gets used is your connection to the instance.
