The Kamala Harris campaign is using memes and celebrities to present her as a fun-loving progressive candidate. In reality, she represented the ugly face of the US’ brutal and corrupt justice system as prosecutor. As Vice President, she has been an apologist for genocide, war, and anti-migrant policies.

    No, see i think they know it… but if they pretend they don’t they can act all outaged later. In their heads though they’re engaged in a political maneuver, one worth playing because she’s “better than the alternative”.

    It might not even be that they’re trying to fool anyone except themselves.

    By choosing to believe she’s better, by wanting Harris they don’t have to attend the fact that even if they don’t Harris will be the candidate decided for them. Unless they convince themselves they want what the tv tells them they want this have to contend with the fact they have no voice at all.

That makes a lot of sense. “Politics are downstream from culture” is a bullshit obviously untrue phrase, but it is true for libs “politics” because there is nothing for them but culture. There is no politics - no way to actually influence the world, they can only engage in culture. And they have maintain the culture of democracy. In that way Trump is the “end of democracy.” Not in an actual way, but in libs cultural idea
