So this series is a TV turned into a monitor? Would that mean they have all that “smart” junk removed? Now that would be nice!

Unfortunately not. The trend from manufacturers is to add smart tv features to pc monitors. For reasons I can’t fathom, tech reviewers seem to like the idea, so shitty Samsung and lg monitors are getting hyped a lot more.

LG strictly markets this as a smart TV. RTINGS is testing it for “off label” use in this review. So design decisions for this series are not made with use as a monitor in mind.

Too bad there is no DisplayPort input. I get it it that this a TV device “redone” for a monitor product, but still.

The LG 42 C4 OLED is a 42-inch, 4k TV with a 144Hz refresh rate. As a part of LG’s C series lineup, it replaces older models such as the LG 42 C2 OLED.

LG does not seem to be marketing this as a monitor at all. The reviewer decided to review it as a monitor because LG oled TV’s have been a popular choice for people using them as monitors. LG didn’t add standard monitor features like a DisplayPort, because they aren’t selling it as a monitor.
