I’ll visit New York City in a few weeks (for a week). What are some things that I should see/experience?
Doesn’t need to be an unknown attraction but maybe not something that is in every top 10 list.
So far I was advised to go to the Top of The Rock rather than the Empire State (since you can see the latter from the former).
My two favorite spots were the Transit Museum in Brooklyn and the Tenement Museum in the Lower East Side.
They’re both fantastic places to experience the history of the city, and usually not too busy.
What are your interests? General NYC, Art, Food, etc.
My personal favs are the Met Cloisters and the Morgan Library. There are also a bunch of food tours through specific neighborhoods if you’re into that.
History would probably by my main interest of relevance, some food tips would also be appreciated. Thanks for the suggestions!
Here are some suggestions:
Tours - Catacombs @ St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral, Speakeasy/Prohibition Tour, Underground Railroad (multiple cool locations) Museums - Tenement Museum, Ellis Island Museum, NY Historical Society, Merchant’s House Museum, Alice Austen House
If you’re in Manhattan, Chelsea Market is definitely worth hitting up. Other places to check out are Chinatown (Manhattan), Greenpoint, Williamsburg, Brighton Beach (Brooklyn), Astoria, Flushing, Jackson Heights (Queens). Different neighborhoods are known for different cultures of food, so definitely look these up and see if there’s anything that interests you!
