In most cases, wealth is inherited and not earned. The majority of people at the top of the mountain are therefore born there and did not have to climb the mountain.

    Bullshit.

We live in a capitalist society, “the mountain” is wealth, and the vast majority on the mountain were born there or got a lucky helicopter ride.

They didn’t climb the mountain the hard way. Anyone that “climbed” it did so by having Sherpas (workers) carry them up for poor wages and none of the personal benefits for climbing the mountain

I get where you’re coming from, and the class struggle is real, but…

It’s a motivational meme. It’s supposed to be, ya know, motivational. Like the name of the community it was posted in…

If you’re going to look at it through one lens so you can poke holes in it, you’re missing how else it can be applicable.

What if the mountain was chronic pain and this is in reference to exercising and eating right instead of sitting around taking pills? What if the mountain was furthering your education and this is in reference to studying hard and applying yourself rather than doing nothing and still expecting to pass your classes? What if the mountain was addiction and this is in reference to seeking treatment and finding motivation over continuing to self-medicate?

I’m not saying you’re wrong, I’m just saying you went negative first and the whole point of this is positivity.

        This is America…

I’d love to not look at society they the lens of capitalism, but that’s not what reality is like homie.

I’m not saying it’s not really like that. It definitely is really like that.

I’m saying you can use that to frame your reactions to everything, or you can occasionally appreciate a positive proverb/meme.

I chose to let this image inspire me. You maybe did the same just with a more angry interpretation.

If you redefine the mountain, then the truth of all of that is redefined with it.

“The mountain is wealth” is a necessary deception of capitalism to entrap people within the system.
