I’ve been advertising this place as a instance with a good balance of moderation and open federation .

While I’ve have seen clear lies being spread about exploding heads I figured the lemmy world admins would have the sense to actually investigate such claims before making rash decisions.

I want to know why it was defederated when the admins of that instance have been good about removing hate speech.

Was any attempt made to contact the admins to talk about any potential problems?

The admins run their own servers. Don’t like it, sign up to another server.

This is like email, excluded any server you want and allow signup how you want.

This ain’t Reddit. This is a decentralised network that CAN, BUT DOESN’T HAVE TO, commucate with each other. Just like email.

        It is on topic.

You need to understand that is not a platform, it is a protocol. Instances decide what other instances to allow communication with. When you use those instance you agree to the level or moderation those people who run the instance decide, just like email. Those people, by-the-way, both pay for and maintain the infrastructure.

If you want your own unfiltered feed. Create your own instance and don’t de-federated any other instance. All the content in the feed will be available because like email, it is federated, so you only need to subscribe to the feeds. The admins do not control the content. But they do control the instances which they maintain, and rightly so.

You are not held to the whims of the admins of an instance that you are using. Your question is one of a centralised platform in a decentralised network.

This is NOT A PLATFORM, it is a protocol and you have the choice to engage with it how you want. Don’t like an instance, stop using it. Use another or create your own. You will still get all the content.
