Well, since Threads users can now see replies to their posts from Fediverse users AND they’re public, I think it’s as good a time as any to ask this again.

Have you blocked Threads?

This is for single users. If you’re an admin that has blocked it for your entire instance, it’s okay to answer as well, but I would like any users of those instances to also answer yes and for those that do not agree with that decision reply below with your thoughts, please!

PS. This is not a debate. I’m not looking for reasons why Threads should be blocked. Those types of replies will be completely ignored. We all know the pros and cons by now.

    @BeAware@social.beaware.live Hey, no problem with being confused. I was just letting you know of what the situation was here. No criticism, no suggesting anyone do anything in any direction. Though honestly, I’d be interested to see if Threads might be worth considering unblocking. Or .social (unrelated).

      @jigmedatse@social.jigmedatse.com Well, that really depends on you and if you feel you would be safe from harassment, if such things should occur.

      I know lots of LGBTQA folks have that worry specifically. I am not familiar with Meta’s moderation, but I’ve seen it said many times that it’s not good.

      Take that how you wish. I don’t have such issues, so I feel safe. But I wouldn’t recommend anyone who is a part of those types of communities to let their guard down.

                @BeAware@social.beaware.live mastodon.social wasn’t that bad. It was just historically that size of instance, it’s very difficult to have good moderation. And stuff was taking more than 90 days for some stuff.

                I gave it that kind of time, because being a big instance, it meant that it was harder to justify blocking the instance.

                  @jigmedatse@social.jigmedatse.com yeah, I totally understand that. I’m a bit worried myself of being blocked by them.

                  I’ve already been blocked by Eugen personally for criticizing his development strategy and not focusing on much needed moderation tools…😅

                  I have almost 300 friends there so I would be making a lot of noise if it happened.😬

                    @BeAware@social.beaware.live It wasn’t really even close to that. But one I know and really miss seeing in this timeline kind of sucks. But another instance, I got blocked, because… Well I criticized the blind use of block lists, and tried to discuss what can be problematic about that.

                    That instance has had other cases where blocks have been personal, and knocking connections blindly.
