Zachary Scheich, who prosecutors said identified himself as 17-year-old “Zak Hess,” pleaded guilty to sexual assault and other crimes.

A 27-year-old Nebraska man who posed as someone a decade younger and attended high school for more than 50 days was sentenced to at least 85 years in prison in connection with sex crimes charges, court documents show.

A Lancaster County judge sentenced Zachary Scheich last week after he pleaded no contest in July to first-degree sexual assault, attempted first-degree sexual assault, generation of child pornography — age 19 or over — and child enticement with electronic communication, according to a sentencing order and a plea agreement.

Scheich’s sentence runs a maximum of 120 years in prison, according to the order. He won’t be eligible for parole for 40 years, aaccording to KOLN-TV of Lincoln.

Basically the idea is that if you are 18 and your Gf/Bf is 16 and you take some dirty videos together it’s not child porn. Once you turn 19, it is.

Got it… the way it’s phrased made it sound like child porn of someone aged 19 or older and I was like 🤔

Note that I’ve never heard of this concept but that was my reading. Think this is probably response to the 2010s when idiot prosecutors were sending teenagers to jail for child porn when they took pictures of themselves to share with their bf/gf.

So called “Romeo and Juliet” laws. If high schoolers are dating when both are underaged and one person turns 18, it’s meant to protect the 18 year old from sudden sexual assault charges.

Sometimes it’s defined as a year gap, like “you can be 2 years older and still date, but no more.”
