The Republican party is fully aware at this point that low voter turnout only helps their guy. The fact that they’re allowed to do this, especially this late into the election year, is just absolute tyranny. They will always sabotage their own base to increase their power.

Clarification from the article, they did not dump 400k recently, the numbers are spread over several years.

Over the past three years, Oklahoma election officials removed 143,682 voters who moved out of state, 97,065 who died, 14,993 duplicate registrations and 5,607 people who were convicted of a felony, according to the governor’s office.

Inactive voters made up the largest share of the removals with 194,962. These are voters who haven’t participated in any election throughout four consecutive general election cycles, generally spanning eight years. They also would not have responded when the state Election Board sent them an address verification letter.

The main problem, as noted in the article, is that removing people for being inactive is terrible. Yeah, they need to clean up people who move out of state and who pass away, but inactive voters should not be the biggest chunk of voters removed no matter the time frame. Honestly, there is no real reason to remove them just for being inactive.

Agree. Being inactive shouldn’t mean shit. Plenty of people sit on the sidelines until something really pops off and they feel compelled to vote. This election certainly could be an example.

However, people do have responsibility to make sure their voting rights are maintained. Keeping up with address changes, checking voter registration, etc.

Friend of mine shared the article with me, reminded me that I needed to update my address from the wrong county. Still in Oklahoma but I didn’t change it in time for the mayoral election a few weeks ago.
