As per https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2016/01/donald-trump-2016-authoritarian-213533/ So yeah, it’s a huge problem. Identifying with the tribe becomes more important than voting on the issues - and potential progressives don’t vote for progressive platforms but for the perceived leaders of the tribe.
