I left the country on suprise work orders 2 weeks in and smothered the connection I had with my friend turned partner in the crib.
Took three months of further anguish and very limited contact to rip the bandaid off.
I have learned nothing from this experience and am about to rebound.

You probably made the best possible decision, considering the situation. I unfortunately had the displeasure of seeing a guy enter multiple relationships with different women, even though he acknowledged there were multiple red flags even before he started dating them. In one instance, he literally left a fucking 24 hour timer so he could know when to stop ghosting her and actually answer the message. Totally wild shit. In the end, he hurt himself and others emotionally, when he could have just said “no” at the beginning, and spared everyone a lot of nerves and tears.
